
Dave was born in Pottstown and grew up in Parker Ford, across from the old church on
Bethel Church Road. He worked in the family bakery in Spring City through high school
and college. He was married to his wife Connie in 1979 and they have a son,
Matthew, who works in construction in Texas and a daughter, Lauren, a senior nursing
student at Penn State.
Dave attended Elizabethtown College (1975) majored in elementary education with
minor concentrations in psychology and religion. Most of his ministry training was at
Elizabethtown, with additional coursework as prescribed by the Atlantic Northeast
District. He was an elementary teacher for 10 years then principal of Royersford
Elementary since 1985.
Dave says, “I made a commitment to Christ early in life, asking Jesus into my heart
while in elementary school. I was baptized at Parker Ford Church by Rev. Alvin
Alderfer in 1967. I have attended Parker Ford Church all my life.” Dave was
licensed in December 1975 and ordained in March of 1979. The congregation called
him to the Shared Ministry Team that was formed in 1999.
Dave and Connie have always lived in the area and now reside in Skippack Township.
Dave has a special interest in the area of children's ministries. He also has an
interest in the area of Brethren history. He is an amateur weather observer,
submitting weekly summaries to two local newspapers. He has chickens and sheep at
home, and enjoys working outside.
